The Power To The People Festival will bring together some of the biggest names in music with thousands of Americans who care deeply about the erosion of our democracy, and want to be part of a lasting solution. This presents a unique opportunity to amplify the message of the participating artists, tap into the on-the-ground energy from attendees, and spread the word that the American people won’t take authoritarianism lying down.
Home of the Brave is a nonprofit organization that exists to amplify the voices of courageous Americans from all walks of life who are speaking out against the rising tide of authoritarianism. Every day we create content that inspires Americans to stand up and fight back, and helps ordinary people everywhere understand that they are not alone.
Our board of advisors includes Dropkick Murphys frontman Ken Casey, January 6 police officer and hero Michael Fanone, Bulwark publisher and New York Times bestselling author Sarah Longwell, plus other national leaders who have stood up for democracy during this moment of maximum danger.
Since launching, we have created video content featuring tennis icon Martina Navratilova speaking out about her upbringing under totalitarianism and the warning signs we’re seeing today; US citizen and Iraq War veteran George Retes, who was illegally imprisoned by ICE and cut off from his family; World War II veteran Bob Hilliard, who helped bring to light the atrocities of the Holocaust; and more.
We will be on the ground at the Festival on October 3 to film interviews with participating artists, focusing on their careers, the need to speak out, the corruption and self-dealing we’re seeing from this administration, and how ordinary people can fight back. The interviews will be conducted by Casey and Fanone in the Home of the Brave van, and will last approximately 30 minutes, depending on artists’ availability.
This content will be distributed across our social media platforms using a variety of formats. We will release a supercut video showing parts of the hosts’ conversations with artists throughout the day. We also plan on releasing individual video episodes for each, and promoting short-form clips across our social media channels.
We at Home of the Brave strongly believe that this moment is an all-hands-on-deck, five-alarm fire. The only way America survives this emergency is by banding together and speaking out as one against the excesses we are witnessing from this administration. By giving voice to these issues, and refusing to be cowed into silence, you will show what it truly means to be brave at a time when so many other so-called leaders have chosen cowardice.
