Campaign spotlights people who have been directly impacted by Trump’s policies, calls out elites for appeasing Trump, and amplifies leading pro democracy voices to push back.

WASHINGTON – Tuesday, June 24, 2025 – A new $15 million campaign called Home of the Brave launched today, telling the stories of real Americans who have been harmed by Donald Trump’s disastrous policies during his second term. The project will amplify these voices through nationwide messaging campaigns to expose Trump’s hypocrisy and failure, and call out the elites who have enabled him. Watch our launch video to learn more.

The project will also serve as a platform for leading opponents of Trump to call out his anti-democratic extremism, point out how he is hurting everyday Americans, and rally people in support of American democracy. Home of the Brave’s advisory board includes the following members, and will continue to expand as the project grows:

  • Sarah Longwell
  • Amb. Susan E. Rice
  • J. Michael Luttig
  • George Conway
  • Stephen Richer
  • Barbara Comstock
  • Michael Fanone
  • Sarah Matthews
  • Benjamin Wittes
  • Bill Kristol

As Trump’s policies continue to hurt the country in new ways throughout his presidency, Home of the Brave will deploy testimonial videos across multiple platforms. Our first round of testimonials from people who have been hurt by Trump include:

  • Kirsten, a Virginia mother whose special needs daughter relies on potentially lifesaving NIH research that Trump cut
  • Devon, an Indiana small business owner who might have to shut down operations because of Trump’s tariffs
  • Sophia, a federal contractor who lost her job, along with hundreds of others at her company, thanks to DOGE

We also launched a new Substack, called Home of the Brave, to tell these stories and grow our community of people speaking out. Our first posts explain the rationale behind the project; spotlight Kirsten’s fight to protect her daughter’s health from devastating NIH cuts; and name and shame Trump’s biggest billionaire enablers.

Since Trump took office, America’s so-called elites have caved to his authoritarian project. Law firms, media companies, tech platforms, colleges, and public officials have all knuckled under to pressure from Trump, rather than call out his assault on democracy for what it is. While these elite institutions have cowered, paying Trump off and hoping to avoid his wrath, his policies have devastated ordinary people who have the least ability to protect themselves.

Trump’s tariffs have hurt the economy and made people poorer. His across-the-board cuts have eliminated critical government services and deprived people of lifesaving medical care. And his mass firings have left families without their livelihoods. In all of these cases, ordinary people are suffering the real-world consequences of Trumpism. By harnessing the voices of those who have been affected in this way, and telling their stories to the public, Home of the Brave will fight back against this radical agenda.

“We call America the Home of the Brave. But in the face of President Trump’s threats of retribution, many of our elite institutions are caving rather than pushing back when Trump attacks them,” said Sarah Longwell, advisory board member of Home of the Brave. “It’s been depressing to watch so many media companies, universities, law firms, and tech companies all bow down to this petty dictator. But regular Americans aren’t afraid to speak out about what’s happening to our country. That’s why we’re launching Home of the Brave—to give regular Americans a place to tell their story about how the Trump administration is harming them, their communities, and their country.”
