Billboards running in Iowa, Ohio, and Michigan will confront voters who are feeling the pinch, with messages like “Gas costs more because of Trump’s war”
WASHINGTON – September 21, 2026 – Today Home of the Brave launched a $1.25 million ad campaign in Iowa, Ohio, and Michigan highlighting how Donald Trump’s policies have driven up prices for ordinary Americans.
The campaign includes more than 100 new billboards bearing messages like “Groceries cost more because of Trump’s war” and “Trump’s tariffs raised prices. Republicans supported it.” You can view the billboards here, and media are free to use these images with credit to Home of the Brave:

These billboards are running across 11 Congressional districts where the Republican candidate is vulnerable thanks to the Trump administration’s disastrous economic record. The campaign comes just after the president’s recent demand on-stage in Dallas that Republican candidates “pretend, please, that I’m on the ballot” in this November’s midterm elections.

This campaign comes at a critical juncture in the midterm campaign cycle. Trump is historically unpopular, with an approval rating in the 30s. Our research shows that this is being driven primarily by voter dissatisfaction with the economy and the Iran war, even among many Trump voters. Our goal is to harness that dissatisfaction and remind voters who is to blame: Trump and his handpicked Congressional candidates.
The core message we’re sending with this new billboard campaign is: Trump and the Republican Party are responsible for increased prices. We are focusing on Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio because they are each key battleground states with multiple competitive races for the House, Senate, or governor.
Many of the Republican candidates running in these races have explicitly endorsed the Trump administration’s economic policies. For example, Bill Huizenga (MI-04) said of the tariffs, “Is it the right thing to do? Absolutely it is.” And Max Miller (OH-07) said, “The economy is actually doing very well right now.” Our strategic goal is to nationalize these races. We are working to ensure that Trump’s failure doesn’t get lost in the noise, and that his political baggage on the economy brings the Republican Party down with him.
“Donald Trump said he wants the midterms to be a referendum on him, and we couldn’t agree more,” said Sarah Matthews, former White House deputy press secretary and advisory board member of Home of the Brave. “This is a party that has completely abandoned the people of Iowa, Ohio, and Michigan, and is adding insult to injury by signaling that it will double down on these disastrous policies if returned to power in November. America deserves better, and we’re making sure people understand what’s at stake.”
Home of the Brave exists to show Americans the real-world consequences of this administration’s policies, and to highlight what bravery looks like in defense of American democracy. The organization lifts up the voices of people whose lives have been directly harmed by the Trump administration, and is working to highlight the catastrophic economic impacts being caused by this administration’s tariffs and war against Iran.
