“I don’t know what they’re doing to help small businesses.”
Joel Finkelstein, owner of Qualia Coffee in Washington, D.C., runs a small roasting business that sells through farmers markets and mail orders. He says tariffs have driven up costs dramatically, with suppliers paying hundreds of thousands in extra taxes and little time to adapt. He also credits the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid for enabling him to stay in business and worries about losing coverage. Finkelstein says the administration’s policies have burdened small businesses and faults Congress for failing to provide oversight or relief.
