“Hope is not a good business plan.”
Lynne started her sun-protective clothing brand company in 2019 after battling cancer and being advised to stay out of the sun. Wanting to stay active outdoors, she created stylish UPF 50+ clothing for water and outdoor activities. Initially manufacturing in New York, high costs and factory closures pushed production overseas. When Trump’s tariffs took effect, one of her major overseas shipments arrived at the worst possible time, becoming trapped and later abandoned due to unaffordable tariff and storage fees. Lynne says that tariffs have made it difficult for small businesses to make plans for the future.
