ICE shot me with pepper balls then arrested me—for peacefully protesting.
Robby is a musician who uses absurdist comedy to protest this administration’s authoritarian actions. He attended a protest at an ICE facility in Portland, OR dressed as a giraffe, where he sang songs making fun of the masked agents he encountered there. ICE proceeded to shoot him multiple times with pepper balls, despite him following their orders and not breaking the law. Eventually, agents snatched and detained him, threatening him with federal charges before releasing him from custody with a citation. Still, Robby says it’s important to make fun of these kinds of thug tactics, and help build a movement of people who aren’t afraid to stand up against authoritarianism in our streets.
