Tara, a research director working as a government contractor, lost her job after DOGE canceled most of her company’s contracts, leading to mass layoffs. As a result, she lost reliable healthcare, leaving her anxious and uncertain about the future. Motivated to capture the human side of recent events, Tara is conducting independent research with other former government contractors to evaluate the personal, professional, and socioeconomic impacts of these mass sector layoffs.
